This lamp was made with the use of parts from nine different gourds. In addition, there are ten pieces of hardwoods in the burner assembly. Eight cabochons of obsidian were used as eyes on the base. The oil font was made with a “canteen gourd,” and the chimney was made with two “people gourds”. The oil filler cap and the wick raiser were made with jewelry gourds. There are four windows on the oil font that represent a continuing desert scene of cacti, a jack rabbit, a coyote, rocks, and mountains, etc. The unit can be dismantled with little effort. The overall height of the lamp is 22 inches and the diameter of the oil font is 7 inches.
Simply A M A Z I N G!
Thanks Lovina, I’m glad you like my latest creation.
What a fabulous piece! How much patience you must have 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment about my patience, but I have to say that patience does not compare to my determined interest in creating art that others may not have thought of or wanted to undertake. More and more I am thinking of ways to use more than one gourd in creating unusual pieces.
