Where nature and art meet!

Gourd Crucifix

Using a dipper gourd, I cut a window in the shape of a heart.  From the heart I cut a cross and then etched Jesus on the cross.  I burned simulated rock on both the inside and outside of the gourd along with two faux stained-glass windows,  a door  and a box of flowers on each side of the entrance. In the neck of the gourd is an indirect light that shines on the crucifix giving it prominence.  The base is black walnut with a collar of rosewood. A jewelry gourd tops it off.  It is 18 inches tall.
